Prison Sentences Reduced In Syria

On Tuesday afternoon in Syria there were some changes made by the president, Bashar Assad. Assad made the decision that some of the people in prison who were considered terrorists would have their sentences shortened. Assad extended this change in the rules to some other convicted criminals as well. Assad shortened their sentences by 75%. Apparently Assad has made quite a few changes in Syria lately, so this wasn't the first. He has a pattern of letting people off easy right before national holidays I guess. Not many people see this as a problem or weird. They don't think it is the beginning of an uprising or any sort of thing. But something seems a little odd about all of this.
