Student Loan Debt

For some people, going to college is a must and they think they will get nowhere in life without a college degree of some sort. Many people find that some of the degrees that they got ended up not helping them become successful. So people have been asking the question, is it worth it to go through all of the schooling and money to get a degree when it wont always benefit you in the future? I guess it depends on the person and their thoughts on the subject. Is it worth it to spend so much money on getting something that may or may not help you get a job. Paying back student loans takes years for most people.

Kidnapping in Cleveland

For a decade three women were kidnapped and held captive in horrible conditions. It was similar to a prison in the home in Cleveland where they were being held. The women were put into separate cell-like rooms and one of the ladies was impregnated by their kidnapper. The lady had no other option but to be forced to give birth to the baby in an inflatable kiddie pool. Six years later they finally were found while they screamed until the neighbors heard them and kicked down the door. The police found that it the kidnapper and sexual abuser was actually three different people, three brothers. They brothers have been taken into custody and their sentencing is being determined soon.

Shooting In Ohio

Recently there was a shooting in Cincinnati. Most often the shoot kills others in the school and then attempts suicide. But in this case the 17-year old boy pulled out a gun in the front of his class room at an all boys Catholic school and shot himself in the head. As of Tuesday the boy was still alive but in a very bad state. There were about 21 other students in the class room when he shot himself. 21 people who will be scarred for lives and their innocence was taken from them. The boy was so quick with the gun that there wasn't enough time for anyone to reach him and stop him. The teacher heard a student yell but when he looked up the gun was already to his head.

Officers Impregnated By Gang Members

At the Maryland Prison four female officers were impregnated by the leaders of gangs in the prison. Apparently the gang member was using the officers to smuggle in and out drugs, money and other things. One of the gang leaders name was Tavon. Two of the female officers got new tattoos, one got it on their neck and the other on their wrist. They both got the name "Tavon" tattooed on them. Apparently male officers were also helping with the smuggling of illegal things in and out of the prison. It came to a total of 13 females and 2 males that all had charges pressed against them. This is one screwed up prison.

Prison Sentences Reduced In Syria

On Tuesday afternoon in Syria there were some changes made by the president, Bashar Assad. Assad made the decision that some of the people in prison who were considered terrorists would have their sentences shortened. Assad extended this change in the rules to some other convicted criminals as well. Assad shortened their sentences by 75%. Apparently Assad has made quite a few changes in Syria lately, so this wasn't the first. He has a pattern of letting people off easy right before national holidays I guess. Not many people see this as a problem or weird. They don't think it is the beginning of an uprising or any sort of thing. But something seems a little odd about all of this.

Background Checks and Gun Control

Recently there was an experiment done where a man would go through gun shows and buy as many guns as he could. The sellers did no background checks and only asked for cash. They would sell him the gun on the spot. Yet they were not breaking the law. Should there be more laws against this? Michelle Obama definitely thinks so. She spoke out about gun control and it sounds like she believes that it should be harder to be able to own a gun. I am right behind her and agree that there should at least be background checks when purchasing a weapon.

Murder in Door County

On Monday April 1, 2013 there was dead body found in the Gibraltar High School parking lot. A 17-year old boy had been run over with a car and left to bleed to death. Our source checked in with the school and they got it all on camera. Apparently there was a fight going on between a girl and the boy and she got in her car and chased him around the parking lot for a while before finally running him over, and then going back to run him over again. But what were they fighting about? Apparently the girl had asked the boy to prom and he said no and chose to go with another girl. The girl got angry and started a fight and tried to convince him to go with her and when he refused to she got in her car and ran him over. The girl hasn't been seen since Monday night, her parents said she never came home.

Rope Swing Death

Kyle Lee Stocking, 22, died last Sunday while trying to swing on a rope. Not just any rope swing though, this was at Corona Arch, a big, towering arch in southeastern Utah. Recently this landmark has grown more popular through social media. Many hikers and adventurers have posted videos on YouTube of them and their friends swinging on ropes through this arch. This has been given the name "World's Largest Rope Swing." Who would have thought something that looks so fun could be so dangerous?

Extinct Frog Makes a Come-Back

30-years ago a type of frog went extinct. This certain type gave birth through it's mouth. Recently in Australia, researchers found a way to bring back this species! This frog is called a Platypus frog and they swallow their eggs and let the babies grow in their stomach until they give birth, through their mouth. Scientists and researchers at the University of Newcastle in Australia worked long and hard on the "Lazarus Project." This project included getting cell nuclei from tissues that had been sitting in a freezer for many years. They took the frozen nuclei and put in into a great barred frog's system. It only worked for a few days at a time but they got enough of the information that they were trying to find.

Death in a Nursing Home

In Bakersfield, California at Glenwood Gardens nursing home a woman collapsed and was having problems breathing. The 87-year old woman, Lorraine Bayless, went down in the dining room and a nurse called 911. The dispatcher told the nurse that she had to give Bayless CPR but the nurse refused to do it because it was against their policy. The dispatcher was telling the nurse that the woman would die if she did not give her CPR and the nurse still would not do it. The nurse would not even let someone else at the nursing home give Bayless CPR. Who cares about a stupid policy at that point, how could you let that poor old woman die right in front of you, especially if you could have stopped it.

Abandoned Baby

About a week ago in Texas there was a report of an abandoned baby left in a plastic shopping bag. The parents would face charges for child endangerment. In efforts to find the parents of this abandoned, week-old, baby girl, the police station has taken a picture of the infant and given it it to their sketch artist who usually makes the sketches the description that people give the station. The artist was able to make a sketch of what they thought the newborns parents might look like. This is the first time that this police station has tried to find the parents of abandoned children this way.

PHOTO: The Harris County Sheriff's Office has released these composite sketches of what the parents of an abandoned newborn may look like. "Baby Chloe" was discovered, Feb. 19, 2013, in Houston, Tex.

Scorpions On A Plane

Your biggest nightmare has finally come true. On Tuesday February 19, 2013 there was a report about a plane that had to land immediately because there was a scorpion on the plane. How creepy would that be to find one of those sneaky little things on a plane with you. A small, enclosed area that you literally cannot get out of. Although, I'm sure that would be an interesting story to tell your friends later on, it must have been very scary at the time.

A Little Extreme for Schools?

Do you believe in corporal punishment for children? Would you let one of your kids teacher physically punish them if they were misbehaving? What if your child had a disorder and struggled to control it? There are stories all over the world of children dying from different sorts of punishments that their schools are giving them. Many special needs children are punished for behavioral problems and disruptions but it is hard for them to control some things. Some teachers have put students in to bags that are made specifically to restrain children and contain them. Children have suffocated inside of these bags. Other children have been put inside a very small padded room or cabinet as a punishment. Lives are being taken, this is one step too far for punishments.

Swim Coaches Sexual Misconduct

A trusted swim coach in Indiana had cameras hidden in the girls locker room and video taped the girls showering and changing. The parents of one of the swimmers was called to their local police station to help with the investigation going on. They were asked to identify their daughter in the videos.  Parents said it was heartbreaking to hear that their daughters trusted swim coach was watching their daughter and her friends in the nude. The coach was sentenced to thirty three years in prison for the offence. Thirty six swim coaches have been accused of sexual misconduct of any sort in the last ten years and they have been banned from the USA Swimming Organization.

Possible Jail Time For Saving Bambi

Two years ago a couple in Indiana rescued an injured baby deer and nursed it back to health. The found it on their neighbor's porch and the fawn was wounded and needed help. So they brough the baby deer home, named her Little Orphan Dani and took care of her. It's two years later and now Jeff and Jennifer Counceller might possible face jail time with a misdemeanor for harboring a fawn. The possible charge would be unlawful possession of a deer. The punishments for this offense are up to 60 days in hail and possibly a $2,000 fine. Who knew Little Orphan Dani was this much trouble?

Parenting Gone Wrong

A couple from Ohio have been charged with the offense of putting their children in plastic boxes for punishment. The couple is pleading guilty to this. As a punishment, these parents would put their children of ages 5, 6 and 8, into plastic storage boxes. They would duct tape the cover on and they would cut a small square on the cover for them to breathe through. Now tell me, what child deserves this?? No matter what the children did, this is inappropriate parenting. This kind of behavior is uncalled for and I feel so sorry for those children. The father is getting 1 year in jail and the mother gets 2 years of probation. I think they should get worse punishments.

Birth On A Plane

This weekend on a plane ride from Russia to Armenia there was a baby girl born. When a woman started going into labor and there were still 2 hours left of plane ride, they had no choice but to deliver the baby on the plane. The mother of the child, Armina Babayan, had told the airport that she was only 6 and a half months along, but obviously she was a little further along than that. Asmik Gevondyan was one of the flight attendants on the plane and she was the one who organized the delivery with the rest of their crew. Reporters say that the mother, Babayan, named her daughter Asmik, after the flight attendant. How sweet is that?

Cheetos Trail

On January 2, 2013 there was a robbery at a convenience store. It took place in North Carolina and the thief was a 19 year old man named Austin Presler. Presler was robbing the store when he opened up a Cheetos bag and started eating them. Apparently Presler spilled some Cheetos on the floor of the convenience store. The police had him down as a suspect and when the police went to search his home and figure out if he was the thief, they found more Cheetos on his porch and his walkway to his door. The police took him into custody right away.

Thursday, January 3, 2013

On Wednesday, January 2, 2013, a man named, David Zehntner, and his wife were flying home from vacation in North Carolina in his own personal, small plane. He was flying over his house in Florida when he noticed there was a truck in his driveway. Zehntner lowered his plane a little so he could get a closer look at the person in the truck. He got close enough to see the person get out of the truck and look into the windows of Zehntner house and try and open the doors. The thief looked right at the plane and then continued to attach Zehntner's small utility trailer to his truck and drive off. Zehntner and his wife tried to call someone to stop him or contact the airport so they could land but it was too loud to hear so they followed him right until he got on the highway. They got a hold of the airport and as soon as they landed they called the authorities and the man was caught. He was arrested and charged with grand theft. Zehntner's trailer and belongings were safe and returned to him.
